I'm back

I'm sorry that I've abandoned this blog for a bit as I've been rushed off my feet finishing off my final essay, packing my room up, moving back to Leeds as well as starting driving lessons!
I've been experimenting with different nail polishes recently, trying to see what works well with other polishes etc. Months ago I bought "17 Magnetized Nail Polish" in Blue but wasn't blown away by the magnetic effect. However on its own this shade is gorgeous...almost like a denim colour and incredibly shiny (in the pictures below I haven't even used a top coat) On my ring fingers I layered the Nails Inc Nail Jewellery Burlington Arcade over the top of it...this is fast becoming my favourite beauty product, it's fabulous over every shade I've tried with it! Definitely well worth the £11 price tag!

A shopping trip into Leeds earlier this afternoon led me into Primark and I came across these snake print nail foils for £1. I ordered some Nail Rock foils from ASOS but as they are yet to arrive I thought I'd give these ones a go especially seeing as they're so cheap. I'll probably review these on Friday as that's when I next have some spare time, hopefully they'll be alright as a cheap fix.

I'm considering discussing plus size fashion and showing you the purchases I've made in this blog/items I want but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to stray away from the beauty. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

Packing

After finishing my last essay of my first year of university I decided it was time to start packing up my room for my move home on Monday. I didn't realise just how many hair and beauty products I owned until I started packing...this is just what I've packed so far into my suitcase - not including the things that I'm still using and what I already have at home! Definitely need to cut down on purchasing new things but it's so hard to resist the temptation.

The sad thing is most of this stuff hasn't even been used - shoved to the back of my cupboard and forgotten about for months. I'm planning on attempting to use each product at least once over the summer so I can see what is good and what isn't. I also have a Schwarzkopf Got2B Straightening Kit which I've been dying to try out but just haven't had the time so hopefully I will give that a go and review it on here!

Sun

Haven't had much time to blog lately - mainly due to the fact that I have an essay due on Monday that I have no idea what to write for. I also have left most of my beauty products at home as I'm beginning to move out of my university house for the summer.
One of the products I have left at home is my suncream...and as you can see I suffered without it yesterday! I really wasn't expecting such nice weather in my last week of university so I was pleasantly surprised to see the sun shining and with temperatures soaring up to the high 20's I definitely needed sun protection.

I'm being sensible today and staying indoors to write my essay, it's definitely much cooler indoors too which is a bonus!

I'm loving my Models Own Hed Kandi Beach Party polish in this weather! Definitely one for the summer days!

Review: Models Own Hed Kandi Beach Party

As soon as I saw this shade I fell in love - it's perfect for the summer and I can't way to wear it on my holiday to Turkey at the end of August.
It's bright and bold - some people might describe it as garish but I think it's fabulous!
The colour itself is similar to that of an orange highlighter and after two layers it was perfect! It's got a matte finish like most neon shades have so a top coat is essential (unless you like the matte finish that is) This is one shade that will really set off a tan but I'm not sure if it will work on extremely pale skin...I'm not very tanned at the moment and it's looking a bit much for me! I've layered some Nails Inc Nail Jewellery over the top of it to make it a bit more special - especially as the weather isn't fantastic at the moment.
I've only had this on a couple of hours and already received a lot of compliments which can only mean one thing - this polish is amazing!
I've downloaded an app called PicStitch for my iPhone which I think is going to make uploading photos to my blog a lot easier plus help with the presentation.

After looking at the picture I'm thinking that the polish actually looks better without the nail jewellery over the top as it's so bold. Oh well you live and learn!

Todays purchases

I had my driving theory test this morning and as I passed first time I thought I'd treat myself to some new beauty bits. I could have purchased a lot more as I saw several things I wanted but I decided to stop myself so I can save money for my driving lessons!

As you can see I bought a range of stuff including nail polish, lip products, razor, hairbrush and bubble bath.

Out of my purchases my favourites are:
L-R HedKandi Beach Party, Nail Art Pen White and Beetlejuice Indian Ocean. (All Models Own)
I have been wanting both of these nail colours for a while as I think they're both perfect for summer. Boots have an offer on at the moment where you get a free nail art pen (worth £6) when you buy two Models Own products. I chose the white nail pen as I already have a black nail art pen and I wasn't too sure if the other colours available would be as versatile.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick - Shade 19
I had a similar shade lipstick to this before from ELF but unfortunately during a drunk night out it snapped in half. I've been searching for something similar for weeks and this is the closest I've come! Definitely going to keep this one safe!

When I get the chance/use the products I'm going to review them on here so keep checking back for them :)

Review: Nails Inc Nail Jewellery

I couldn't wait to return home today as I knew my Nails Inc Nail Jewellery in Burlington Arcade would have arrived. I've literally just finished painting my nails and I couldn't even wait for them to dry to blog about this amazing product. This is why my nails haven't been tidied up in the pictures - I'm far too impatient!
When I opened the package I was a bit disappointed as the glitter in the bottle all looked the same shape and size - completely different to what was shown on the internet. However after painting it on my nails I could see all the different shapes and sizes of the glitter which is what makes this unique. Each nail looks different which I love!

The polish itself is the best glitter I've had by far! I know I said this the other day about the Models Own Ibiza Mix but this one is incredible. One coat covered the full nail without one single bit of dragging which is often unheard of with glittery polishes.
I layered mine over Barry M Black 47 nail polish and I can't wait to try it over different colours as well as trying the other Nail Jewellery shades.

If you haven't bought this yet then I would recommend that you do! You will love it!

Nail Wraps

I'm really wanting to try nail wraps at home but the last time I got them I made a complete mess of them. Has anybody got any tips for using them?
Thought I'd share some designs that I really want to purchase, definitely going to order at least one set once I think I'd be able to get the hang of using them.
As you can see I'm not really fussy with which I buy - these are all available from ASOS for  £6.70. Or if you're lucky and get student discount and get 10% off!

Nail Lust

I didn't plan on blogging again today but I came across the most amaaaaazing nail polish and I feel that I really should purchase it! I was browsing the Nails Inc website and came across their Nail Jewellery range and I'm in love. I definitely want to purchase the one I've shown below, which is Burlington Arcade. On their website they put the Nail Jewellery over Black Taxi which I think has worked incredibly well. For £11 it's a bit pricier than what I normally pay but as soon as I get chance I'm going to purchase this! I've been wanting to do my nails like this for some time after seeing a friend with similar style nails that she got done in the salon but I was unsure of how I would master it at home myself so this is going to be perfect for me!

The other colours they have are:
Princes Arcade
Piccadilly Arcade
Royal Arcade

Has anybody tried any of these nail polishes? Or have some similar to recommend?

Mascara

Whilst searching my room for eyeshadows to create the look I wanted last night I found a mascara...still in its original packaging and everything. I don't remember ever purchasing it, which goes to show just how much I buy when I can't remember my purchases! Anyway I thought I'd use it and it was the best mascara I've used in a long time! It allowed me to build up the mascara to make my lashes extremely thick without going clumpy - something that is usually unavoidable! I think it's because the brush is a lot different to most mascaras out there due to it being a plastic/rubber material rather than bristles.
Anyway I'd definitely recommend that you go buy it - it's Max Factor False Lash Fusion and it is amazzzzing!

This is all I'm probably going to post today as it's my birthday! Unfortunately I won't know if I've got any of my wish list items due to telling my parents to leave my presents at home for when I travel back up north for the weekend rather than sending them to me at uni!

Eyes

It's my birthday night out tonight so I'm going to attempt some seriously sexy eyes. After searching the internet for what seems like forever I've decided just how I want them and I'm hoping I have enough eyeshadows in my uni room to create this look. I'm tempted to calm it down a bit as I have small eyes so sometimes dramatic shadows can look a bit too overpowering but hopefully it should be okay!
I think the different shades of brown really emphasise the brown eyes which are a similar shade to mine so hopefully it should suit me!

Leopard Nails

Finally managed to experiment with some nail art using the nail art pen that I bought yesterday from Claire's Accessories. As I love everything leopard print, I decided it was only right to bring the leopards to my nails.
Using Barry M Gold 289 as a base I applied the black nail art pen with the nib tip (my nail art pen has a brush and a nib) on top to create the pattern. It was a lot easier to do than I thought which has made me proud of the result. I would definitely recommend that you buy yourself a nail art pen to try some patterns out just to make your nails a bit jazzier. I'm excited to try some new ideas now that I've realised it's simple to use!
Can't wait to show these off on my birthday night out tomorrow night!

More purchases....

I went into town to buy some medicine as I'd been feeling ill, and of course I ended up buying some makeup.
In Boots, all Cargo stuff is 75% off which is such a bargain so I bought their Double Ended Primer Lash Activator Extreme which apparently makes your lashes longer and thicker within 15 days. I'm going to use the mascara and primer for the next two weeks and see if there's any difference. I'll take a photo later on when I've taken my make up of my lashes now and I'll take one in two weeks time to see if it does work. Even if it doesn't for a fiver it's a pretty good mascara.I've been wanting a nail art pen for a while but Boots were sold out of the Models Own one so I bought one from Claires, not sure how good it will be as the brush doesn't seem very sturdy but I'll give it a try at some point.

Review - Models Own HedKandi

A quick shopping trip to Boots today for essentials turned into me scouring the make-up aisles determined to make a purchase. I happened to come across Models Own (never actually used this brand before even though I've heard good things about it) and after seeing the HedKandi Ibiza Mix nail polish I knew I had to purchase it.
The nail polish is a glitter polish featuring different shades of blue, purple and silver. I've never had a good experience with glitter polish due to the "dragging" of the glitter that normally occurs, however I didn't let that put me off purchasing this polish as it looked so pretty in the bottle.

Verdict:
After a few coats the polish looked fantastic and glittery...definitely the best glitter polish I've bought as it didn't "drag" as much as they usually do. I could have done with an extra coat on what I did but due to time restrictions I didn't get chance to. However this is a great glitter polish and is perfect to add a little something special to an outfit. The glitter itself varies in size and colour which makes this nail polish interesting. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out some more of the HedKandi range.

The Bottle.

First Coat - Bit poor and can hardly see the glitter.

Second Coat - Still as bit bare but glitter is building up.

Finished Nails- after about 4 coats the nails were looking pretty good. I'd prefer these with an extra coat just to even out the glitter and make sure the full nails are covered.

Overall I would definitely recommend this polish, especially over other glitter polishes.

Perfume...

As a girl I love perfume. So much so that I thought I'd share all my favourite perfumes with you!
Prada Candy - got two bottles of this for Christmas and I'm nearly out of it already! Actually addicted to it! Received so many compliments when wearing it!

Nina Ricci Fantasty - This is the latest addition to my collection. It's very sweet and fruity but I'm not too sure if I'll buy it again.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy - I would buy this again based on the bottle alone. The scent is strong but sweet and I can't wait to get my hands on a new bottle.

Vera Wang  Princess - The perfume that I've been using for the longest amount of time! I normally get incredibly bored with perfume but I've used this for a good 3 or 4 years now! Probably since it first came out. It's so sweet smelling and I love all the spin offs from it including Glam Princess and Rock Princess.

What is your favourite perfume?

Money...

Not really anything to do with beauty but being a poor student I've searched and searched for ways to make extra money. I came across the website Topcashback which basically gives you money for buying stuff online! How perfect is that....with an online shopping addiction like mine it is definitely worthwhile signing up as it's free and you can get cash back on just about everything - including beauty sites like Feel Unique, Body Shop and Boots so you can get money back whilst buying your beauty essentials!
